Blind River, Ontario, Canada
After a number of uranium mine
closures in nearby
Elliot Lake in the early 90s, economic
adjustment funds provided by the provincial government helped create the
Elliot Lake and Area Energy Efficiency Program. Funds from this program
were used to install an AOC 15/50 wind turbine. In the spring of 1998,
construction of the wind turbine was completed. Since it began
operating, the turbine has provided about half of the power needs of the
town's marina. |

Island of Luing, Scotland
The remote location of these two turbines on the western Scottish Isle
of Luing made installation challenging but
worth the effort.
The turbines have produced over 500,000kwh’s of electricity since their
installation. Turbine one was installed in 2002 and the second
was added in 2004. |

Sagar Island, India
These are the first two
of ten wind turbines installed on Sagar
Island off the west coast of India. A remote location, installation was
challenging as no heavy machinery was available. The wind turbines will
work as part of a high penetration no storage wind/diesel hybrid system
which will allow more villages on the island to have access to
electricity and improve the quality of life of the villagers. |
